Purchasing a Medical Alert System

A medical alert system is made up of a medical alert device and other features, such as add-on fall-detection technology, a lockbox, pendant, lanyards, a customer portal, base unit, alert services and much more. The system you select may depend on your lifestyle. If you’re active and on the go, a mobile alert, with GPS and WiFi, might be best. If you like to stay home, an at-home unit could be the right choice. No matter which you choose, all our systems allow you to live the life you want with an extra layer of safety.

Reasons To Purchase a System

Selecting a medical alert system offers you, and your loved ones, peace of mind and an extra layer of safety. Here are just a few reasons why our customers have purchased a medical alert system.

Certain Medications

Sedatives and other medications can put you at risk of falling. This is an added risk.

Chronic Medical Condition

Many chronic conditions put you at a higher risk of falling and sustaining an injury from that fall.

Active Lifestyle

Fall detection brings a layer of added security if you are outdoorsy, enjoy hiking, and engage in outdoor activities.

Live Alone

People who live alone are more vulnerable to injury because they may not have someone to help in an emergency. Our alerts are used for all types of emergencies, not just falls.

Balance Issues

Issues with your ears, brain, muscles and gait can cause you to feel off balance. If you're dealing with these problems, a medical alert with fall detection is a good choice.

Medical Alert System And Lifestyle

Medical alert systems fit all types of lifestyles. Most often people who purchase a medical alert system have fallen, are concerned about falling, live with chronic health concerns, or live alone. Most on-the-go systems come with a device, a lanyard to be worn around your neck, a wrist band or clip. Our at-home devices come with a base unit and offer a discreet pendant you can add to lanyard and a wrist band.

Medical Alert Systems With Fall Detection

Medical alert systems can add fall detection technology. This technology uses triaxial accelerometers that measure vibrations in three areas of your body: at your waist, head to toe, and posterior upward. If your device senses an abrupt change in movement, it will activate a fall detection alert and call the monitoring center on its own.

Frequently asked questions

Unlike a cell phone, our medical alert devices are highly water-resistant wearable buttons, perfect for shower use. Additionally, a cell phone will not always be nearby in an emergency, making it an unreliable option when it comes to ensuring your safety. With our devices, however, you can rest assured that you will always have access to help by wearing a discreet and lightweight button around your neck, wrist, or on a clip. Our medical alert devices can also be used for more than just emergency situations including contacting a family member or loved one at the push of a button. The ease of use of our products with a single button press truly set our devices apart from your typical cell phone, especially in the case of an emergency.
Our services are available in all 50 states. We also provide services in Puerto Rico and Canada, but device restrictions may apply.
Standard Medicare does not cover the cost of a medical alert device. However, some Medicare Advantage plans (Medicare part C), may cover or reimburse you for the costs associated with a device. You would need to check with your specific Medicare Advantage provider to see if they would cover one of our devices. Medicaid may cover the cost of a medical alert device, depending on your plan and your state. Check with your Medicaid provider to see if they would cover one of our devices.
No. While our Classic Guardian requires a landline telephone connection, we offer another home-based medical alert device, Home 2.0, and two mobile products, Mobile 2.0 and Mini Guardian, that use a nationwide cellular network to contact our 24/7 monitoring center at no extra cost to you.
Our monitoring center is located right here in the United States, so you never have to worry about experiencing any language barriers in an emergency.
